Kelli Swanson Jaecks, MA, RDH
There has been rapid change in both public opinion and reported science concerning cannabis use and its effects. In fact, each year more states legislate to legalize Cannabis. The health professional will increasingly treat individuals who freely use cannabis in all its forms. What do we need to know? What questions do we need to be asking?
This course will take a closer look at the changing Cannabis Culture; our history with cannabis in the U.S., attitudinal shifts concerning the journey of cannabis from ‘gateway drug’ to accepted medicine, and address these questions –“ What is the difference between hemp, marijuana, cannabis, THC and CBD?” “What about medical vs. recreational use?” “What is the appropriate action when a patient self-medicates with marijuana before an appointment? What are preventive oral health strategies we can utilize to best protect our patients?
